Immigrant Advancement Matters, Inc. (I.A.M.) is a nonprofit organization born out of the belief that when ordinary people unite for a common goal, they can create extraordinary change. This organization was just an idea in the mind of Alexandra Ruiz, president of I.A.M. back in March 2009.
“Meeting at my house this Saturday night! Very important news to share with you all, bring snacks!” That invitation went out to all her close friends and family and on that Saturday night in March, Alexandra shared her idea of starting a nonprofit organization. “We all have the potential to do something that can bring about change.” With those words she invited everyone to take that journey with her.
That day became the catalyst to months of arduous research and development of future organizational goals and mission. I.A.M.’s mission is to provide support to the immigrant community through educational, legal, and personal advancement programs that encourage integration into American society. This organization encompasses an array of young professionals who volunteer their expertise and time for this mission. Without their dedication and hard work throughout the pass couple of months, Immigrant Advancement Matters would have just lingered as a noble idea without the possibility of actualizing. I.A.M. is currently looking to recruit members who are willing to dedicate themselves to helping immigrants in need.
An organization is only as great as the people working to sustain it. This is an up and coming organization seeking individuals from all walks of life.
